The city of Kalispell is a small city within the county of Flathead with a population around 23,000. The name Kalispell comes from a Salish word meaning, “flat land above the lake.” If you visit this city, you will definitely understand where the name comes from, there are beautiful bodies of water all around the city. When you think of the simple beauty that many people travel to Montana for, Kalispell is that city. The outdoor life here is a great tourist attraction. You can explore many different state parks such as Flathead Lake State Park and Lone Pine State Park, or take a quick 30 mile drive to Glacier National Park. Another great attraction close to Kalispell is the several ski resorts and areas located just 17 miles away from town. No matter what you are heading to Kalispell for, you won’t be disappointed, as well as the outdoor tourist attractions, this city is very commercial and trade driven.
The weather in Kalispell is similar to that of the rest of the state, dry hot summers and cold snowy winters. Montana typically receives quite a bit of snow, and Kalispell is no different. But the nice part about Kalispell is being able to take advantage of the ski resorts so close by, it will make you love the snow.
